A Japanese blue and white Arita Ware Kendi or drinking ewer.
Period: Edo
Circa: 1660-1680,
Medium: Hard-paste porcelain painted with cobalt blue under transparent glaze (Hizen ware) depicting Mount Fuji with birds and stylised clouds, separated by floral designs, the neck and bulbous spout decorated with leaves. The rim has a dent made by the potter before the glaze was applied and fired.
