Silver bronze, a rarer technique than other decorative bronze techniques, consists of covering soft bronze objects with thin layers of silver. This process offers much greater durability and a rendering closer to solid silver than plating.
This very elegant silver finish was used for old candelabra and small sculptures.
Since silver bronze objects are generally without a punch, their dating is often based on their design. This pair, inspired by a model from 1720, was probably made in the 19th century.
