A pair of French antique silvered bronze candle holders.

Silvered bronze, more unusual than other decorative bronze techniques, refers to the process of covering soft bronze items with thin layers of silver.

This process has a far longer life, more akin to solid silver than silver plating.

The highly attractive silvered finish was used for antique candelabra and small sculptures.

However, dating is usually by design as slivered items are not marked. This pair in the 1720 style are more likely to have been made in 1830.

The look and weight of this pair show superior quality in excellent condition.

The pair of beautiful French Louis XV-style silvered candlesticks would sit very well on any table or mantelpiece.
