“Pair of hand-colored 18th century French engravings”
A pair of hand-colored romantic classic French engravings by Jacques-Firmin Beauvarlet (1731-1797) after François Boucher (1703-1770).
“The Pleasure of Hunting” depicts a romantic scene in which a young man and two young women hide behind bushes, under a statue of two putti, on the lookout to catch small birds in their trap.
“The Pleasure of Fishing” represents a young man and two women near a pond with a country house in the background.
The young man teaches one of the women to fish.
The prints are presented in identical golden frames with classic passe-partout.
Frames measures 46.5 cm 18.3 inches x engraving 36.5 cm 14.3 inches. They are in excellent condition and ready to hang.
These prints form part of the British Museum’s collection.
